Verder. Ik woon nu alweer bijna 3 weken in het prachtige Utrecht, wat een heerlijk stadje is het toch :) Toch wel een verademing na Amsterdam (laatste 3 maanden hélemaal overgenomen door fijne (fietsende, dat zijn de ergste) toeristen. Vorige week introductie taal en cultuurstudies, heb een hele leuke week gehad, en nu begint het echte werk! De eerste colleges zijn al achter de rug en het wordt allemaal steeds interessanter dus ik ben tot nu toe helemaal tevreden. Zal binnenkort een paar foto's van mijn lieflijke kamertje posten, het is ongelooflijk gezellig geworden en ik voel me er al helemaal thuis :)) ben wel helemaal kapot van alle nieuwe indrukken en ga vanavond voor de verandering even helemaal niks doen behalve muziek luisteren, kranten lezen en sudoku's maken (ik ben helaasch nog internet-en-tv-loos op mn kamertje -_-)

...things behind the sun

It's been a while,
&
a lot has happened. I've had an absolute amazing holiday, backpacking through eastern-europe (Budapest, Bratislava, Prague, Vienna and two wonderful, fairytale-like villages; in the hills of Slovakia and in the Czech Republic)
we've come across the most amazing and inspiring people everywhere and seen beautiful cities, museums, nature. (I'll post some photos when my computer stops being a bitch, randomly erasing some of my music/photos -_- )
I want to go back so bad it hurts.
But I've been back for more than a week now and it's been a complete reality-check: in exactly one week my university-introduction-thingies are starting... The good news on the other hand is that I have my own small little palace right in the centre of Utrecht :) It's as tiny as it gets, but it's completely mine and I lurrrvvv it. Today we've gradually started painting and moving my stuff. Changes changes changes...

...I don't know why, but lately I'm finding it really hard to put the right words down here. I've tried a few times, but it just always ends up with me staring at the white, flickering screen with a million thoughts on the tip of my tongue (fingers) but not finding the exact words.

Even een klein berichtje tussendoor om jullie te informeren dat ik ben GESLAAAAAAAAAAGD!!! Niet helemaal onverwacht, maar toch een ontzettende opluchting om het daadwerkelijk te horen. Nu ga ik weer vrolijk verder alle borrels/feestjes afstruinen, en binnenkort zal ik updaten met foto's van Turkije (heerlijkste vakantie ooit)!
Ik ben gelukkig!

I think that it's the time in my life that makes me feel kinda melancholy lately. It makes me want to dig up old pictures constantly and think about how scary next year is going to be. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited and ready for it, but it just feels like a big step to leave Amsterdam behind me and move away from my safe 'whomb' here - constantly surrounded by loving friends and family.

Anyway. I have to pass the fucking exams first before I can really surrender to this feeling -two to go (latin and maths on Thursday) and then off to Turkey Saturday, with all my friends.

About a month ago I made a picture of the view of Amsterdam. When I looked at it more carefully yesterday I suddenly noticed a really cute detail in the bottom-right corner of the photo

I thought it was quite adorable :)

The other day I was searching for a book and I came across a little box with very old photographs my dad took - I don't know, but I've been fascinated with them ever since. Sometimes you just forget that your parents were young too or something..(i know how cliché that sounds, but you just do. ;) )

I'm in the middle of my final exams. Up till now it's all been quite easy, but the two hardest subjects are yet to come :/
But I'll get by. I'm drinking liters and liters of cinnamon tea my mom makes me and just made myself a great new mix cd which is perfect in the background during studying :)

When I went outside this afternoon, the little girl next door was sitting on the sidestep looking kinda sad. I asked her what was wrong, & she just opened her hand:

I dunno, but it just really reminded me of when I was small - I can remember feeling so incredibly sad finding a dead ladybird once.

Just had my first exam, French. I suppose it went okay, good enough to pass it anyway :) One down, seven to go. Hurrah.

Pity me.

In just two days my final exams are beginning and I have NEVER been more demotivated than right now. I simply just can't focus on anything I'm supposed to be learning and am distracted by every moving/shiny little thing - I even started to clean my room today out of total desperation: this is a very, very bad sign.

All I want to do right now is just take photos, many many photos, and listen to beautiful music.

Help.

En opeens realiseer ik me, precies een week geleden was ik nog in Rome... een soort van pre-examenreisje met een vriendin, om de zenuwen even te bedaren. (of zoiets..)
Wat heb ik genoten van die heerlijke stad. Alsof je 24/7 door een openluchtmuseum loopt, met achter elke hoek weer een jaw-dropping mooi gebouw.

Wat kan díe man zingen, gitaar spelen, je helemaal van top tot teen, van links naar rechts inpakken met zijn bijzondere stem.
Ik heb met kippenvel zitten luisteren, ogen dicht, verstand op nul en het over me heen laten komen als een warme deken.

Héérlijk, dit soort avonden.

paar dagen terug in mijn geliefde park had ik het geluk om dit beeld vast te kunnen leggen op de gevoelige plaat (zoals ze dat zo mooi zeggen :P)

The weather luckily keeps on getting better, and so is my mood. Yesterday I went to this café on the 11th floor of a building, so we had an incredible view of Amsterdam. I can just absolutely fall in love with my city on moments like this.
